Neste livro ela vai se encarregar de um jovem Kevin de 15 anos que nas suas primeiras secções se encontrava barricado debaixo de uma mesa, o mundo exterior causava - lhe um enorme pânico e desde há muitos anos que ele vivia fechado num mutismo voluntário no entanto aquela era apenas uma parte visível de um abismo de sofrimento, em todas as instituições por onde passara consideravam - no um caso perdido, mas Torey têm um coração enorme e sentia - se incapaz de desistir de Kevin, pouco a pouco foi descobrindo a história chocante de violência e abandono desde a sua mãe o deixar e ter assistido a morte da sua irmã que o padrasto há matará a sua frente. Há pouco e pouco Kevin começa por acreditar numa vida melhor ao ver que têm pessoas que se preocupam com ele e que apesar das coisas que ele fizera a Torey nunca o abandono conseguindo assim que ele vá para uma escola e recomece novas amizades.

O acto principal e mágico de um autor é criar uma história em que as pessoas acreditem absolutamente, vivida por personagens que gostaríamos que fossem nossas conhecidas. A quem pudéssemos dar um conselho ou um parecer que nos pudessem fazer comungar das suas alegrias, tristezas, entusiasmos ou temores. Mas o medo deve ter sempre um ponto de partida e uma conclusão. Um desfecho ou uma explicação que lhe dê valor, sobretudo é um ingrediente difícil de usar. Daimon é uma das personagens principais que perde a sua noiva e entra num estado depressivo,na qual vai conhecer Laluna que lhe vai dar uma nova existência no mundo vampírico que o vai libertar de tudo o sofrimento. Movendo - se por sombras vai descobrir uma nova realidade que não conhece, uma nova sociedade paralela que descende de linhagens e que se perdem nos primórdios dos tempos.
